Spyderco Blackhawk C24 Folding Knife
The Spyderco Blackhawk C24 is a very rare Spyderco of days gone by, and as you can see the example here is not in fantastic shape. I picked this up in a trade with a fellow from Russia. Don’t see these available very often at all, and probably bring in close to a couple hundred dollars when mint with the box if not more.
This example of the Blackhawk has a blade length around 3″, with a Alumite Aluminum Handle, textured and annodized black. There are other examples of this knife with G-10 handles which are also very rare. Blade steel is G2 or GIN-1, which are the same steel. This example has a fully spyderedged/serrated blade, with full-sized Spydie hole. The locking mechanism is a standard lockback, extremely common in the early days of Spyderco.
The Spyderco Blackhawk is quite ergonomically shaped for my hand, and fits well without any noticeable hot spots. The knife does have an odd look, not quite as attractive as more recent knives from the brand. Spyderco often re-releases old knives with different materials like the Renegade, the big brother of the Blackhawk, so it is conceiveable that this knife may be re-released in the future.
I’m not sure what the exact date of release for this knife was, but it was some time in the 90’s. Unlike many other brands out there, Spyderco is able to maintain collectibility on their discontinued knives. There isn’t much that is remarkable about this knife, and unless you are a Spydie collector it is likely not going to hold much interest for your.

I purchased my Blackhawk at a sporting goods store for $9. It was on the discontinued shelf, and I asked if there were any more in the back (there weren’t). It has the G-10 scales and a partially serrated edge. It is one of my favorite utility knives…I got the larger Renegade version on ebay just for my collection.

Great knives and great write-up; I have the C24 Blackhawk and C23 Renegade mint in boxes. I have many C23’s, purchasing everyone I could get my hands on when these awesome performers were discountinued.
