Peter Marker Micro Damascus Folder
Here is another remarkably well-made folder from Australia’s Peter Marker. Unfortunately Peter is no longer making knives as far as I know, but his legacy lives on through the many knives he made during his career. My favourite thing about Peter’s knives were that they were always Damascus, and always affordable. He was the only maker that would sell a perfectly made damascus folder for $350.
This micro folder from Peter is still one of my favourite knives, and likely will remain in my collection permanently, unless someone offers me an obscene amount of money for it. Bolsters and liners are integral, with the lock bar a separate peice that is bolted to the inside of the liner, in a milled out section. Kind of a neat idea, but he only uses this technique on his micro folders.
When I bought this knife, I had to send it back to him as I found the regular pocket clip not very good. The knife is extremely short, and the slimline pocket clip he used made it not hold too well, so I had to send it back to have a deep pocket clip installed. He said that the normal pocket clip was preferred usually because the deep pocket clip makes the knife thicker, and with such a small knife most users are looking for a more compact tool.
The lockup on this knife is fantastic, with a nice stiff ball detent holding it in snugly. All titanium hardware is annodized purple, and the handles are Ivory Micarta. Blade is Odin’s Eye damasteel. All of Peter’s knives shipped with a blue velour pouch and a special spanner wrench tool that he makes for adjusting his custom pivots.
The blade measures just 1 3/4″ long, which is long enough to get your envelopes open and open your packages of goodies that you ordered from the internet, making it the perfect knife for the office type. I really wish Peter were still around as I would like to purchase another from him. These are still my favourite small folders for the money.
